LEEDS golfing prodigy Kiran Matharu is hoping for her maiden European Tour victory next month.
She turned professional last year in a blaze of publicity after a highly-successful amateur career.
Kiran, 18, who plays at Cookridge Hall golf club and whose home is the family shop where until recently she helped behind the counter, is a major contender in the Ladies English Open in Oxfordshire from July 4-6.
"I do feel I could win at any time," she said. "My chipping and putting has been very good and it is just my long game which has let me down. I have had the wrong shafts on my clubs recently.
"I think my first year went pretty well. I finished 37th in the Order of Merit and that's good for a first season. I led a few times and lost in a play-off so I have been close a couple of times."
