The sunshine and clear skies seen across much of the UK today are set to continue into the weekend.
Forecasters are predicting fine weather in many areas with temperatures likely to reach 26 degrees celsius in London on Saturday.

People who specialise in predicting the unpredictable predicted the rest of the week would be mostly dry and sunny, but then hedged their bets by adding that showers and thunderstorms could move in over western areas by Friday.

Prognosticator

Weather prognosticator Paul Mott said: "Today will be a fine and glorious day across many areas with plenty of sunshine around.

"There could be outbreaks of rain and possibly thunder during the afternoon in Cornwall, but elsewhere it will stay dry.

"Conditions look good for the start of the weekend, although there will be some rain around in western parts of the UK. Temperatures could reach 26 degrees celsius in the London area on Saturday."
