A knifeman who sttacked four men on one night in Leeds city centre has been jailed for a minimum of nine years.
Daniel Massey left each of his victims with life-threatening injuries following the attacks close to Puro nightclub on Call Lane.
One victim had his throat slit, another had his tongue sliced, while one man was stabbed five times.
Leeds Crown Court heard Massey, 20, was one of a baying mob who targeted the four men from Nottingham who were in Leeds on a night out.
Robert Felstead was punched by Aaron Flemming, 21, before being stabbed five times by Massey, causing a collapsed lung and lacerated liver.
While Mr Felstead was on his hands and knees on the floor Ashton Campbell, 20, kicked him in the head.
Shocking CCTV footage of the attack was shown in court.
For the prosecution Richard Wright said the victims had left Puro nightclub and were standing on Call Lane at 4.30am on May 5.
He told the court: "Ryan Justin and Michael Karim were talking to some women and something was said which caused one of them to slap Ryan Justin's face. He reacted by pushing her."
This prompted a group to gather, headed by Massey who was carrying a knife.
"Without words being spoken Massey slashed the knife across the throat of Westleigh Burke who immediately began to bleed profusely with blood pumping out from his fingers as Massey, still without speaking, looked on."
Mr Burke was bundled into his friend's car and taken to hospital while Mr Felstead, Mr Justin and Mr Karim were targeted by the mob.
Flemming headed a group who kicked and punched Mr Felstead before dragging him over railings and into the road.
Massey turned to Mr Justin, slashing his face at least twice, slicing through his cheek and cutting out a wisdom toothas well as part of his tongue.
Mr Wright continued: "Mr Justin staggered away from the incident and attempted to call an ambulance on his mobile phone. As he did so he discovered that his injuries were so severe, particularly that to his tongue, that he was unable to speak. He passed his phone to a refuse collector who called an ambulance for him."
Mr Karim was also set upon by Massey who stabbed him in the back before knifing Mr Felstead in the abdomen and torso.
All four men had life-threatening injuries and all four have suffered problems since their terrifying ordeal.
Judge Geoffrey Marson QC said: "You three had consumed an irresponsible and gross amount of alcohol. You, Massey, combined it with drugs and you were armed with a knife with a curved six-inch blade deliberately designed as a weapon. What happened on the streets of this city amounted to terrifying mob violence.
"No-one who has seen that CCTV of what took place that night can be anything other than appalled at what took place."
Massey, of The Avenue, Batley, admitted attempted murder and three charges of wounding with intent.
Sentencing him, the judge said: "You are a dangerous man from whom the public needs to be protected."
Massey, who has a string of convictions including possessing a knife and a loaded shotgun, was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection and ordered to serve a minimum of nine years.
Campbell, of Tynwald Drive, Moortown and Flemming, of Spencer Place, Chapeltown, both admitted violent disorder and assault.
Campbell, described in court as a talented footballer and has had one caution for public disorder, was locked up for 28 months. Flemming, who has previous convictions for robbery and threatening behaviour, was jailed for 32 months.
Speaking after the case Det Supt Bill Shackleton said: " This was a horrific attack where four men were brutally and calculatingly stabbed one after the other within less than a minute."
