Little Oliver
AT the moment, the Yorkshire summertime is leaving a lot to be desired – but for a splash of sunshine on a rainy day, look no further than La Tasca.

The colourful Spanish venue on Greek Street, Leeds, is bound to put a spring back in your step if the wet weather is getting you down (quite literally if you take up the venue's salsa classes).

And with the all-you-can-eat Tapas for a Tenner menu, which offers a selection of meat, fish and vegetable dishes alongside salads, breads and olives, the restaurant could even provide temporary relief from the credit crunch blues.

The bargain menu is only available from 5pm between Sundays and Wednesdays so, as Little Oliver was in the right place at the right time, we decided it was only right to fill our plates – and our stomachs – with the cheaper option.

For our first serving, we chose the following dishes: Patatas Bravas (fried potatoes topped with a spicy tomato sauce); Ensalada Mixta (leaf salad with tomato, tuna, onion and free-range egg wedges); Paella de Pescado (paella with squid, prawns and mussels); Albóndigas a la Jardinera (Spanish-style meatballs served in a vegetable and tomato sauce) and Alitas de Pollo (chicken wings marinated with garlic and paprika), accompanied by a side order of bread and mixed olives.

All the food was delicious, especially the meatballs and the chicken wings, and although we felt the paella and the potatoes lacked flavour, it's difficult to complain when the food is so cheap.

We managed to finish all the dishes put in front of us and although we were too full to try any more, we did manage to make room for a shared dark and white chocolate cheesecake, which was excellent.

La Tasca is definitely a great venue for eating on the go – the venue also offers a Menu Rapido, which guarantees to have hot plates of tapas on your table inside 15 minutes, making it an ideal choice for workers on their lunch break.
